The TEF Canada Writing Module evaluates your ability to write clearly and effectively in French. Below is a breakdown of each section of the exam along with preparation tips to help you succeed.
- Duration: 60 minutes total.
- Score: From 0 to 699 points, corresponding to CEFR levels.
- Mode: Computer-based test with no external documents or electronic devices allowed.
- Navigation: Free navigation during the test.
- Recommended time management: Spend about 25 minutes on each section and keep the final 10 minutes for proofreading.
Read regularly in French to develop natural language patterns and expand vocabulary.

- Write about your future plans.
- Summarize a news article.

You must read the beginning of a short news story and imagine the continuation by writing at least 80 words.
- Use a formal journalistic tone.
- Stay coherent with the setting.
- Use connectors such as ensuite and quelques heures plus tard.
You must write a structured argument using at least 200 words.
- Present at least three arguments.
- Use logical structure and transitions.
- Finish with a polite closing.
